A heat pump installation is done as follows:
- The condenser is installed outside the house. The condenser is used to convert and move heat and air throughout the home. This unit can be on the ground or mounted to the wall.
- The air handler is mounted inside the house. Ideally, the air handler should be within 30′ of the condenser as you need to connect the two. We also recommend that the air handler is mounted at least 2′ from the ceiling and nowhere close to a TV.
- The air handler and condenser are then connected, and all the cables are covered and stowed.
With the proper heat pump maintenance, your device should last at least 12 to 15 years. However, you should make sure you know how to maintain your heat pump. Also, arrange to have a technician come out and perform a tune-up on the unit once a year.
